Bailing a loved one out of jail is not something that the average person does often in their lifetime. As such, when you receive the phone call that a loved one is requesting you help them bail out, you may not know what bail bonds company to work with. There are many companies out there that offer bail bonds. Here are a few of the factors you should consider when you are looking for a bail bond company to help you get your loved one out.

If the Bail Company Allows Payments or Collateral

In most states, the amount that a bail bond company can charge to bail your loved one out is regulated. As such, most companies will charge the same amount. The majority of states allow bail bond companies to charge 10 to 15 percent of the amount your loved one's bail is set at. Because the amount a company can charge is regulated by the state, you may not need to focus on the price. Instead, you should focus on how you can pay the bail amount. If you don't have the money, some companies may allow you to make payments or use collateral, such as your car title or home, to secure the bond.

The Hours of the Bond Company

Another important factor to consider when you are looking to select a bail bond company is the hours that the bond company is open. Some bond companies are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Other companies may be closed in the evening or on weekends. If your loved one is in jail and it is late at night or a weekend, you may want a bail bond company that is still open so you can get your loved one out as quickly as possible.

The Client Check-In Requirements

The last factor to consider when you are selecting a bail bond company to bail your loved one out of jail is what, if any, client check-in requirements the company has. Some bail bonds companies require those they bail out to check in with them weekly, bi-weekly or monthly. If the check-in requirements are not met, they may pull the bond and your loved one could be re-arrested. It is important to pay attention to what the specific client check-in requirements are, and to ensure your loved one can meet those requirements, before selecting a bail bonds company.

While every bail bond company is in business to help you get your loved one out, they are all operated a little differently. Paying attention to these factors allows you to find the company that best meets your needs, as well as your loved one's needs.
